Position Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Lead Catalyst, Resource Development is a full-time staff position and member of the Lead Council, the organization’s executive team. The role will grow FTF’s impact by ensuring access to the resources necessary to catalyze Racial Equity across the St. Louis Region, through setting and implementing innovative strategy, growing and mobilizing transformational relationships, and supporting a cohesive external message.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy + Planning (40%)

  • Develop, oversee, and implement organizational resource development plan
  • Refine and innovate on organizational approach to stewarding and managing resources with attention to long-term sustainability
  • Set organizational priorities and systems to ensure Community-Centric fundraising and accountability to Justice Philanthropy principles
  • Build organizational capacity for resource development
  • Identify tactics and strategies to engage and convert prospects to donors
  • Maintain and/or reorient short-, mid-, and long-term resource development strategy

Donor + Funder Relations (40%)

  • Advance strategy to yield $2M+ annually
  • Maintain and deepen transformational relationships with donors
  • Develop and support robust donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition activities
  • Ensure the appropriate follow up occurs with donors, funders, and supporters
  • Apply principles of community-centric fundraising, grassroots fundraising tactics, community asset-based framing, and an anti-racist lens to donor and funder relationships
  • Lead Development Committee meetings in partnership with Development Committee Chair and attend Board meetings
  • Ensure donor data integrity and reinforce financial and data privacy controls
  • Direct and support donor communications campaign via social media, direct mail and/or other communications channels

    Leadership, Management, and External Messaging (20%)

    • Engage as a member of FTF’s Lead Council in making strategic decisions as the organization advances its mission
    • Grow and manage a high-performing team of catalysts that lead FTF’s “Sustain the Work” strategy
    • Support a cohesive external message through management of the Director of Storytelling and Communications
    • Collaborate with Lead Council to ensure a management culture of transparency, high ethics, and transformational leadership
    • Support special projects at the discretion of the Executive Director

      Experience & Qualifications:

      The ideal Lead Catalyst, Resource Development will have a strong track record of personal and organizational leadership, relationship and project management, and demonstrated success in developing abundant resources for nonprofit organizations, activities or efforts.

        The following skills and qualifications are required for the position:

        • Demonstrated vision, experience, and confidence in fundraising, soliciting for donations, and planning major campaigns.
        • Ability to develop and direct execution of large, multi-step projects.
        • Strong organizational strategy and mission-driven planning skills.
        • Takes initiative with an attention to detail and ability to be self-directed and create detailed personal project plans.
        • Exceptional project planning and management skills.
        • Ability to thrive in a team environment with an orientation towards receiving and applying constructive feedback.
        • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced work environment with an ambitious team and to effectively manage initiatives, multiple projects, and fulfillment of ad hoc requests simultaneously in collaboration.
        • Deep knowledge of and sensitivity to Racial Equity and intersectionality, including historic and structural barriers to the advancement of people of color and communities and how these factors can operate in a workplace, organization, and institution.
        • Ability to monitor progress towards goals, assess risks, and adjust plans as needed.
        • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit leadership/management, social work, public policy administration, political science, communications, or a related field.

          This full-time position has a salary range of $85,000-$95,000.
